In 1885, Atanacio Rodolfo Romero, great-grandfather of the Rodríguez-Romero family, bought some plots of land in the region of Las Capucas, Honduras, and began cultivating tobacco and a little coffee for family consumption. 75 years later, his son Atanacio Rodolfo Romero traveled to Costa Rica, where he learned of best practices for producing high quality coffee, he changed from tobacco to coffee, and laid the foundations for the Capuccas to become one of the zones Coffee plantations in Honduras. In 1999 Omar Rodríguez, Yerno de Atanacio, founded the Cooperativa Cafetalera Capucas Limitada, COCAFCAL. |
